The legend of Philoctetes has some main features, with some variations, that are repeated in the mythological tradition: hero of Greek mythology, who was excluded and abandoned on the island of Lemnos and then returned to the conquest of Troy. This study has focused on the bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature on the figure of Philoctetes during the period 1961-2015.The aim was to describe and characterize the state of the scientific literature on this subject for use in teaching posible educational value of myth. Using eight specific bibliometric indicators, we have formed a final sample that shows 124 documents, identified as articles and obtained in the database Web of Science. According to results, it has been shown, on the one hand, poor and irregular scientific production of 124 articles over 54 years, with a range from two to eight articles in the 10 most productive journals. The majority are from Anglo-Saxon countries and authorship of a single author. On the other hand, it has been found that the most productive topic has been Philoctetes Sophocles tragedy. It has also been approached from other research areas such as education, medicine, psychology, psychiatry, sociology and religion. The findings conclude that it is a little researched topic and, given the diversity of areas that have been treated, it has a multidisciplinary potential to continue in their study and application to education.

Gustavo Cambraia FRANCO, Ricardo da COSTA
Original title: A sapientia christiana e a analogia das artes liberais em um Sermão de São Vicente Ferrer (1350-1419)
Published in
Keywords: Analogical Thinking, Medieval Science, Medieval Sermon, Saint Vincent Ferrer, liberal arts.
This article contains an exposition and an analysis on the theme of the Liberal Arts in a sermon of Saint Vincent Ferrer, renowned Dominican Valencian preacher during the passage between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. We intend to show that the Liberal Arts are addressed by the sermonist within the traditional theoretical scope of classification of sciences in the medieval period, as branches of knowledge for the service of the higher science, Theology, to avail the scholastic dictum philosophia ancilla theologiae. In his exposition, the author follows the medieval didactic principles of analogical thinking, the figurative hermeneutics and the allegorical exegesis of the Bible, by which he ensnares the meanings and properties of each science or Liberal Art, namely Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric, the Trivium sciences, and Music, Arithmetic, Geometry and Astrology, Quadrivium sciences, in a web of metaphorical and analogical relations aimed, at the end, to confer spiritual, religious and moral meaning and utility to each of them, as well as subordinate them to the royal domain of the sapientia christiana.

Three carmesinas real and one fictional. The interest in the dialogue between History and Literature for the interpretation of Tirant lo Blanc
Abel SOLER
Original title: Tres Carmesines reals i una de ficció. Interés del diàleg entre Història i Literatura per a la interpretació de Tirant lo Blanc
Published in
Keywords: Carmesina, Chivalric novel, Jaume de Vilaragut, Joanot Martorell, Tirant lo Blanc.
This article focuses on the historical Valencian knight and baron Jaume de Vilaragut (+ca. 1464), a friend from chilhood of Joanot Martorell, a devout reader of chivalric and Arthurian literature as well as of romances of materia Trojana. He married a member of the Martorell family, became a corsary and defender of Rhodes, was a prisoner of the Great Caramany and of the sultan of Babylon. He also resided at Naples together with the author of Tirant lo Blanc (1460-1464), and was a frustrated commander of the Crusade to recuperate Constantinople following the plan of Pope Calixtus III (1455). He could have been the inspiration for Tirant himself. This hypothesis is reinforces by the fact that there are three Carmesines from the mid-15th century associated with him: A Carmesina his "servant" and possibly his lover; Carmesina Requesens, his niece, born in the 1450s; and Carmesina de Corella, of whom he was godfather ca. 1452. The first Carmesina could have been the inspiration for the princess Carmesina of the chivalric novel.

Ausiàs was not interested in the abstract analysis of the different types of love but in the study of his very own nature, as he felt devastated by his dissapointment with love. His verses reveal a personality full of contradictions showing his changing and volatile mood as he focused on three different concepts of love: spiritual love, human love, passionate love. Through the analysis of these three concepts, we try to answer the following question: through his analysis of the secrets of love, was Ausiàs March able to ever find virtue?
